Before posting the last series of pictures from our Amsterdam trip I have to sneak in this little post about batik.
Obviously dye and batik is back, I’ve been seeing lots of batik scarves everywhere and this dip dye pillow ist just gorgeous. So of course my first thought wasn’t ‘where can I buy this?’ but ‘how can I make this?’
I vaguely remembered batik from school and the colours weren’t expensive and it really was much simpler than I’d thought.
Besides making a silk scarf that I love I’ll give you a little sneak peek of something else I’m working on:
Kristina, Beautiful fabric. Can’t wait to see what you do with it.
Years ago I took a fabric dying class. It was fun. Now batik I’ve never done. Did you use wax?

Thanks Lynda đŸ™‚ I didn’t use wax because I wanted to keep it simple and just did some tie dying. But I may in the future đŸ™‚
I’ve read a little about natural dyes too…you could probably use half your garden to dye fabric in different colors!

I’ve just rescued my cat litter tray that I use as a dye bath from the back of a dark cupboard and it’s now ready and waiting to be used again… I’m looking forward to having another go at tray dyeing using some recycled fabrics and kind of drizzling the dye over so it takes more in some parts than others.
I love your little bit of applique – totally my style… I’m using into using felt on denim with running and overcast stitching currently… I love having something to pick up whenever the mood strikes!
