Kath Bloom – Come Here
I watched one of my favourite movies of all time again yesterday – Before Sunrise. I am finally starting to buy my favourites on DVD as it doesn’t seem like our VCR is getting fixed any time soon.

Kristina, I also love, love, love this movie and the sequel Before Sunset. (You have seen Before Sunset haven’t you?) Hubby and I caught both of these on TV last year and just loved them. We saw Before Sunset not knowing there was an earlier one – Before Sunrise so we waited and it came on later. We talked about seeing them in order the next time. Sounds like I need to buy the dvd. Thanks for reminding me about that movie.

Oh, I love that you love it too!You definitely have to buy the DVDs 🙂 Lots of people don’t know about these movies at all, because they weren’t advertised here in Germany. I watched Before Sunset when it came out in a little theater in Cologne and to this day I remember the stunned silence at the abrupt end…there were these few seconds where the whole audience just sat there, still spellbound, before it hit that that was the end of the movie.
I bought Before Sunrise on a ferry to England during a school trip…back in the days of videos and I had a hard time getting english language films. There was a 2 for 1 sale and I ended up taking Before Sunrise along because I liked the cover picture. Best chance decision ever 🙂
Though I really don’t know which one I like better…Sunrise or Sunset. Sunrise is sweet and naive and young, while in Sunset there is that underlying bitterness and regret that is revealed layer after layer…I could talk about these films forever, yet when you try to explain the story to someone it’s so hard. There is so little happening on the surface and a whole emotional journey underneath!

Kristina, They weren’t advertised here either. We saw them on the independent film channel where they show obscure films that never hit the local theaters. Hubby and I talked about this last night about how it was one of our favorites we’ve seen lately. It was neat that it was just the two of them and what they were going through. And I loved the music. Looks like I need to buy the dvds!
