I firmly believe that knitting is therapeutic.
There is something very calming about sitting down quietly and comfortably to knit socks (or scarves, or hats).
And the great thing is that you’ll end up with something wearable and unique eventually.
For my german-speaking readers, I’ve just discovered the most amazing youtube tutorial series for knitting socks and especially heels here (here for the heel part only). She also teaches crocheting, so I’ll be learning that next!
Beautiful socks!

Those are my dream socks!!! Are they worsted weight? And is there a pattern? I have been putting off making socks because I don’t enjoy knitting with the tiny yarns, but I would knit these up in a heartbeat!

The yarn is Regia 6ply Tweed and I knit them on 3.5mm needles, so not quite worsted weight (I think? I am not really familiar with the english classifications of yarn), but quite a bit thicker than the average sock yarn and they knit up pretty quickly 🙂
Hm, I don’t really use a pattern, I just need the heel instructions. I did 12 stitches each on 4 needles. You knit mittens before so if you can find english speaking youtube vids for the heel and the cap you’ll be ok 🙂

I’m no yarn expert, but it sounds like your yarn weight is what I would call “sport weight.” Smaller than worsted, but still better than tiny sock yarn! 😉
Anyway, I think I might just start a pair soon and see what happens! Thanks for the information. I adore YouTube for all the knitting videos — they have helped me IMMENSELY and I am hoping that I can find some soon that will teach me to crochet as well!

Love the photos AND the socks. I am a knitter too, but every time I have tried to make socks, they somehow end up TWO different sizes :). Luckily, I have a German girlfriend here in Canada and she makes the socks for me. I just love love love wearing hand knit socks. Thanks for the post ! Gorgeous !

Thanks Lynne and Jessica! I never really measure or count stitches when knitting socks, I just make one sock and measure the other against it, usually works fine :))

Aw, thanks, but I am so not a great knitter, seriously!! I’m just winging it and choosing easy patterns 😉 I’m not selling any knitting, but have a look on Etsy, there are many great knitters who probably sell socks as well!
