here and there

Disappearing from this space completely for the last few days definitely wasn’t my plan. Fact is, I’ve not been doing very much worth telling about in my days off. I’ve had three photoshoots to keep me busy, done some sewing that isn’t fit to be seen sadly and then caught a heavy cold towards the end of my holidays. So for the last few days I’ve been on the couch, nursing a headache and a fever, sipping ginger tea, rewatching all 5.5 hours of Pride and Prejudice 1995, reading the umpteenth installment of my new favourite book series, the Daisy Dalrymple Mysteries (seriously, Miss Marple style who-dunnit’s set in the 1920’s, featuring an independent young aristocrat who keeps falling over bodies and a dashing Scotland Yard detective…who could resist?) and generally not doing much.

We did fit in one nice visit between photoshoots and catching cold, to Burg Hülshoff(website only in german, sorry), where I took all the photos in this post. It’s a charming little Castle and park, well worth visiting on a nice day.

Obviously while sick I’m living vicariously through books and films, gathering inspiration for living and photographing and sewing. Another new-to-me discovery is the 1990’s TV Series House of Eliott. 1920’s is definitely it for me right now. I won’t even mention the new season of Downton Abbey…

Enough rambling for today. I hope to be up and about again soon, so I’ll actually do something worth showing instead of just dreaming about it 🙂

I always enjoy your wonderful photos! I hope you feel better now.
About my Darling Ranges, the fabric is a very soft cotton that I bought in a local shop. I’ve been wearing this dress so much.

Thanks Neus, I do feel better now! I’m still trying to get rid of a nasty cough, but other than that fine again. That fabric looks very soft as well, it’s gorgeous! I can imagine you’re wearing the dress constantly, it really turned out perfect!

Your photos are all so lovely – you have a great eye! But I’m writing to thank you for introducing me to Daisy Dalrymple, I just finished the first book this week. So perfect for winter evenings on the sofa!
