me_bwHi, I’m Kristina from Germany. I’m a photographer specializing in People and Fine Art Photography. This blog has seen me grow from being a student to working in an office to starting my own business.

I live in a small town with my boyfriend and two cats Murphy and Finn and have always been passionate about handmade. Making things up has always been a part of my life. Even as a child I was constantly stitching, knitting or drawing something and getting lost in the process.

The act of making something with my own hands, be it sewing a dress, knitting a pair of socks or planting a garden is strangely exhilarating and fulfilling for me. I strive to live a simple life, to slow down and sharpen my senses and to enjoy the precious little moments of beauty in each day.

In my Etsy Shop you can find a selection of special moments from my travels. The photography section of this blog has largely moved to my photo blog and my Facebook Page while ‘little home by hand’ is a space for sharing snippets of my personal life, sewing, gardening, knitting, travelling and everything in between.

    Wow! Popped over since you were mentioned on Bambooska’s latest blog post (as was I – isn’t she sweet?). You take WONDERFUL photographs – especially your portraits (of people and animals!) You have a way of drawing out their personalities and it shows in every photo. Just lovely! 🙂 Tracy

      Thanks Lisa!! Has he got a blog too? The horse photos seem to be everyone’s favorites yet these are the ones I take almost accidentally, because I’m at the barn so often in my free time 🙂

    Hi Kristina,

    Lovely photographic work! It is always good to see that the 35mm film camera is still standing strong 🙂 I too have an Olympus OM-2n – a lovely camera and great for small hands (built solid too). I mainly use Nikon, so will be looking at an F5 at some point. Black and white is great – even better when you (the photographer) makes all the decisions on exposure! I have mainly worked on nature, landscapes, fashion and glamour/portraiture.

    I’ve just found you blog today and have just been through all the sewing posts! I’m so inspired! Some of the patterns you have used (e.g. colette and wiksten patterns) I’ve been wanting to try for a while now. I have the wiksten tank pattern, but haven’t finished the top yet due to problems with the size i cut out!

    Hi Kristina! I’m so excited to have stumbled on your blog. It’s very lovely. I am Canadian (born & raised in Vancouver, so I loved seeing your photos of your time there) but I live in Germany now with my German husband. I also love knitting! Anyways, just wanted to say hi!

      Hi Ruth, thank you for taking the time to comment! Wow, life in Germany must be so different for you from life back home! Do you find german people to be very grumpy? I’m honestly wondering because I found Canadians to be so incredibly friendly and open and was surprised that everyone seemed to want to talk with a stranger.         haha! it’s funny you should ask that- many people do! At first I was a bit surprised in the Supermarkt or on the bus when people didn’t make eye contact or small talk, but now I’m quite used to it. Sometimes in Canada, it can be a bit much to always feel like you need to be so friendly, even if it’s not genuine. I think Germans are friendly too, just in a different way 😉
